Petersburg, WV is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and is within a 2 hour drive from the suburban DC/Baltimore Area as well as a beautiful drive up from Roanoke Virginia.

West Virginia Rails 2010 will be held in Petersburg, WV. All displays are located at this venue. Train Rides will leave out of Petersburg with the Execption of the ALL-Day excursions on Friday and Sunday. They leave from Romney, WV and bring passengers to the event.

When arriving in Petersburg, look for parking signs for designated lots.

Romney, WV - Departure location off ALL-DAY Trains

Passengers booked on the All-Day Train rides leave from the Romney Train Station. Make sure you are at the correct station before your train leaves.

Event Schedule

Train

Over three days excursions will be operated over the 51 mile long South Branch Valley Railroad through the World Famous Trough. Some Trains will be pulled by vintage steam locomotives others by historic diesel locomotives.

Run A Real
Steam Locomotive

Here is your chance to live a dream and run a REAL steam locomotive. You will be given instruction by a professional steam locomotive engineer and YOU will pull the throttle, blow the whistle and stop the train.

Night Photo Sessions

Camera

Be one of a very limited number of people to have access to the trains after dark. A night photo session will be held with the assistance of special lighting and instructors. Don’t miss this rare commemorative opportunity.
